Plex Home Theater

If you have large selections of pictures, music and videos, you may find that managing them is a bit tedious, because you would need at least two separate applications. A better idea is to use Plex Home Theater, an all-in-one media center. It allows you to sift through your songs, movies and pictures in a comfortable and elegant manner.

You can have Plex Home Theater up and running in no time, but you have to use it together with Plex Media Server, which can be installed just as fast. You don't have to import anything into Plex Home Theater, because it will automatically retrieve everything you have in Plex Media Server.

The application comes with a full-screen user interface, which can be controlled with the keyboard. You can use the arrow keys to select different menus and hit the Return key to access their contents. Once you select a media file, the application takes you to a different screen, where you will find the necessary controls for playing the files, adding them to a queue and performing other actions.

Music, movies, home videos and other content types can be found in separate menus. You can also access a play queue and a search function. The file categories can be replaced with options for accessing a channel directory, where you can manage your online video channels or add new ones. You can also find options for accessing a general settings menu and for shutting down the Mac or setting it to Sleep mode.
